Andrew’s best weekend horse racing betting tips (31 August – 1 September)

As always, this weekend is packed with horse racing meetings across the UK and Ireland. We’ve sifted through all the race cards to bring you the best weekend horse racing betting tips.

This weekend also features a special race day at the Curragh as they host their Curragh to Curragh Cycle/Pat Smullen Cancer Trials Charity Day—always a fantastic occasion.

Now, let’s get into the horse racing action.

Best Weekend Betting Tips

Read on for an in-depth look at this weekend’s top horse racing betting tips and odds from our favourite horse racing betting sites:

  • Beverley 1:30 – Walter Hartright – bet with BetMGM
  • Curragh 2:50 – Rudi’s Apple – bet with VBET
  • Curragh 3:35 – Hanalia –  bet with SBK

Curragh 2:50 – Group 3 Heider Family Stables Round Tower Stakes (6f)

Ides Of March will be a popular pick for multiples this weekend, and rightly so after a convincing maiden win over the same course and distance.

However, RUDI’S APPLE offers a solid alternative.

After finishing third on debut over 5f, he ran a respectable sixth at Royal Ascot in the Windsor Castle Stakes at 50/1, beaten by just over four lengths.

He then faced Group 2 winner Black Forza in a July maiden before confidently winning his nursery debut over this course and distance. While Group 1 competition proved too tough last time out, he still performed admirably (with the second, Whistlejacket, subsequently winning the Group 1 Prix Morny).

Today’s drop in grade is a clear advantage. He sets a strong standard that his rivals must reach to beat him.

He has a good chance of upsetting the odds-on favourite here.

Curragh 3:25 – Group 3 Snow Fairy Fillies Stakes (1m1f)

Although the drop in distance isn’t ideal, HANALIA comes into this race having been unlucky not to finish closer (4½ lengths, sixth place) in the Irish Oaks behind You Got To Me and Content.

That is the standout piece of form in this race. She previously beat a now 102-rated filly in her maiden and followed that up with a Listed win at Naas. Even after a slow start in a 1m2f Listed race at Naas, she travelled strongly and powered home to win comfortably. So, I foresee no major issues with the drop to 1m1f here.

There should be enough pace on offer for Hanalia to have a target up the straight.

Her class should carry her to victory.

Beverley 1:30 – William Hill Silver Cup Handicap (1m4f)

A small but select field lines up for the first race on Beverley Bullet Day, but the top two in the market may be left to battle it out when it matters.

The 4-year-old filly Quietness has improved tremendously since moving to Marcus Tregoning, winning 4 of her 5 starts this season. Her most impressive victory came when she tackled 1m4f for the first time.

However, she may have to settle for minor honours today against the two-time course and distance winner WALTER HEARTRIGHT.

Walter Hartright himself has notched up four consecutive wins this season, though his streak came to an end at the start of the month in the Racing League.

With four of the five runners likely to push the pace early, Walter Hartright, who has shown he can win from off the pace, may benefit from the expected strong gallop today.

Receiving weight from all his rivals and with the likelihood of a solid pace to run at, Walter Hartright has much in his favour today.
