Angel Di Maris has recently spoken out about his time at Paris Saint Germain, and it’s a rather different experience to the one he endured at Manchester United in 2014
Angel Di Maria’s recent Paris Saint Germain comments detail just how differently he feels about his time in the French capital as opposed to his disastrous time at Manchester United.
The Argentinian signed for United in 2014 after impressing with Real Madrid, but his £59.7m move wasn’t a successful one, and Di Maria wanted out after just one season.
Thankfully for Di Maria, PSG were interested and offered United £44m, who agreed as they took the loss and parted company with the unsettled winger.
The move has proved successful, and Di Maria has been loving life in France over the past six seasons, as his recent comments have expressed.
Di Maria has won an impressive 17 trophies whilst at PSG, and has racked up 180 Ligue 1 appearances since 2015, scoring 54 goals during that time for the French giants.
Now at the age of 33, Di Maria has been speaking about his future, with the man from Rosario potentially targeting a dream return to his hometown to end his career, although if he can extend his playing days end in Paris, he would be extremely happy.
Di Maria sees his contract expire this summer, but hopes that will receive an extended deal, which is quite the contrast from wanting to get out of Manchester after 12 months.
The winger spoke about his future and more in a recent interview with TNT Sports Argentina, and said: “I want to stay because I’m very happy here, and so are my family. The children are very happy at school. I would like to leave through the front door.
“If I leave it would be to go back to Argentinian football… My wish is to end my career at Rosario Central but not in ‘pre-retirement’. I want to be in good shape and be able to give my best.”
Di Maria’s happiness is far from the horrors he faced at United, and his wife famously branded Manchester a ‘s***hole’ during their one-year cameo in the north of England.
When delivering a sensational outburst to Los Angeles de la Manana, Di Maria’s wife Jorgelina Cardoso didn’t get a good feel for the place, labelling the women: “Pasty-faced and white, prim and proper,” the food: “Disgusting”, and Manchester: “A s***hole”.
Cardoso never wanted Di Maria to join United in the first place, as she wasn’t fond of Manchester when visiting: “I didn’t want to go to Manchester because I am friends with Gianinna Maradona, who was married to [Sergio] Aguero, and we flew from Madrid to his house in Manchester to pay him a visit for two or three days when Angel had a few days off at Real Madrid.
“It was horrible! A s***hole, we went to the house and we were like ‘see you later guys, we’re out of here’. When we left, I said to him, ‘Go to any country – except England’.”
However, Di Maria did move to England, but after one year he listened to his wife and departed that summer.
