rsenal have completed their first signing of the January transfer window as Omar Rekik joined in a deal worth £500,000.
The teenage defender was a summer target before time run out on completing the deal.
Rekik has been tipped for a big future by those in Germany and Arsenal have been tracking him for a while.
A statement read: “Omar is a ball playing centre half who can play on both sides.
“Omar was born in the Netherlands and he has played internationally at youth level for Tunisia and the Netherlands. Throughout his youth career he also spent time at Feyenoord, Manchester City, PSV Eindhoven and Marseille.”
Rekik will link up with the club’s Under-23 side with Mikel Arteta considering the 19-year-old a prospect for the future rather than the first team.
The youngster leaves Hertha Berlin having failed to play a first-team game but did make the matchday squad on three occasions.
