Arsenal have reportedly held talks with former Lille sporting director Luis Campos about a role at The Emirates.
Campos is widely regarded as one of the best talent spotters in world football having built title winning sides at both Monaco and Lille.
He left his role at the latter earlier this season, after a fall-out behind the scenes.
That wasn’t to say he had done anything but a fantastic job at the club, building a side that managed to break Paris Saint-Germain’s dominance at the top of Ligue 1.
They became the first side other than PSG to lift the league title since the Monaco side Campos helped construct in 2017.
That team included the likes of Fabinho, Kylian Mbappe and Tiemoue Bakayoko, all spotted by the 56-year-old.
RMC claim that Campos is keen to return to the game, having had time to reflect on his December 2020 departure from Lille.
Campos would add – on an informal basis – to a recruitment team that already includes manager Mikel Arteta, technical director Edu and newly appointed director of football operations Richard Garlick.
Arteta and Edu are currently in the process of formulating their transfer plan for the summer window after a disappointing season.
The Arsenal boss has made no secret of the need to evolve the squad, having missed out on European football altogether.

“The squad needs changing,” he said last month. “There were already a lot of changes in December, something that has not been done in years, but it tells us where we were. Things are going to have to change and the owners are going to back it up.
“We have not been competing with the top clubs in this country for five years.
“It is not as if this process started six months ago – it started five years ago and you can see this trend. This year is not year one.
“I think a project has its phases and I am telling you we are in a much better position today to be where we want to be very soon – if we do what we have to do.
“But we have to be ruthless. There is no time to waste and there is a lot to do.”
Football.London claim that Arteta and Edu have already pinpointed their first target of the window in the form of Norwich City’s Emi Buendia.
The Argentinian has been heavily linked with a move to north London and it is now believed that the Gunners have formally registered their interest with a £30million bid.
That bid is likely to fall short of the Canaries’ £40m valuation, although the player’s desire to move to a bigger club is expected to play a factor.
Elsewhere, Ajax keeper Andre Onana is believed to be on their radar as they look for a more experienced back-up to Bernd Leno.
