Arsenal player ratings: Leno, Luiz errors undo Saka’s bright start

Could do nothing about Wolves’ goals, with the first one a penalty and the second a wonder strike by Joao Moutinho. His red card, however, was inexcusable as he handled the ball outside the box.

Defensively the Spaniard did fine, but going forward he lacked the quality offered by Cedric on the other flank.

Not up to the level he has been in recent weeks, but still solid enough. Coped okay with change of centre-back partners at half-time.

Was having a decent game before being sent off just before the break. The Brazilian was unlucky too as he was trying to get out the way of Willian Jose.

Had another good game filling in at left-back for the injured Kieran Tierney. Looks a threat going forward and dealt fairly well with Adama Traore until late on.

Another who looked good in the first-half, but then faded in the second as Wolves’ extra man in midfield made the difference.

Was making his 200th appearance for Arsenal in all competitions, however it was not the night he wanted. Struggled to control the game in second-half.

Arsenal’s best player on a tough evening. Hit the post, had a goal ruled out for offside and looked a threat all night.

Looked really bright in the first-half as he exploited pockets of space in front of Wolves’ defence, but struggled after the break when playing as a ‘false nine’.

The Ivorian is starting to show his quality now and capped off a good display by taking his goal well. Looks a much better player out on the left flank.

Was having a fairly decent game before he came off at half-time for Gabriel. Setup Arsenal’s only goal and linked play well.

Gabriel (Lacazette 45’) 6

Fairly solid performance from the Brazilian after coming on at half-time. In line to start against Aston Villa on Saturday.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Pepe 62’) 6

Quiet night for the captain on his return. Tried to help turn things around – but couldn’t get into the game.

Alex Runarsson (Partey 75’) 5

Thrown on after Leno’s red card and looked shaky at times.

Subs not used: Ceballos, Willian, Chambers, Elneny, Martinelli, Odegaard
