Arsenal player ratings vs Newcastle

Simon Collings was at the Emirates to run the rule over Mikel Arteta’s squad…

A very easy and quiet night for the German, who was basically a bystander for the whole 90 minutes.

Comfortably one of the full-back’s best games in an Arsenal shirt. Got forward when he could and finished his night with an assist.

Has now established himself as the first-choice centre-back in this team. Solid again and dealt easily with threat of Andy Carroll and Callum Wilson.

Another solid and uneventful game from the Brazilian, who was also decent against Crystal Palace last week.

One of the Scot’s quieter games. No errors or mistakes, though, and was very solid. Some nice link-up play with Aubameyang too.

Thomas Partey 8 | Star man

Bossed the game against a poor midfield. Passing was spot on and he broke up play well too. An assist for the first goal topped off a good night.

Looked good alongside Partey and will be happy with his night’s work. Partey is a guaranteed starter now, so the other midfielders are battling for a spot. Xhaka did himself no harm tonight.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang 8

Had a difficult and frustrating first-half, but stepped up after the break. His first goal was a great finish and the second was a case of right place, right time. Encouraging.

Just keeps getting better and better with every game he plays. Some lovely touches in and around the box, topped off with an assist for Arsenal’s second goal.

Starting to become a bit of a talisman in this team. Another goal tonight, which means he has now scored three in his last six games.

A quiet night for the Frenchman. Still worked hard and pressed all game. Went close with an effort in the second-half too.

Mohamed Elneny (Partey 67’) 6

Neat and tidy from the Egyptian as he came on to help see the game out.

Willian (Aubameyang 79’) N/A

Gabriel Martinelli (Smith Rowe 82’ N/A)

Subs not used: Runarsson, Bellerin, Gabriel, Pepe, Willock, Nketiah
