Arsenal predicted XI vs Man City as Tierney and Partey in contention

Thomas Partey is expected to make his first appearance in an Arsenal shirt from the off on Saturday.

The Gunners’ new £45million midfielder is likely to be handed a starting berth on his debut after joining in with training ahead of the trip to The Etihad.

Partey is a strong addition to Arsenal’s lineup and Mikel Arteta could show his faith in his latest acquisition by including him instead of Bukayo Saka.

Mohamed Elneny and Dani Ceballos are tipped to retain their places in a three-man midfield, with Granit Xhaka once again overlooked.

Mikel Arteta is returning to his old stomping ground and has also been buoyed by the fitness of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who has shaken off the ankle injury which kept him out of international duty.

Aubameyang is set to form a three-pronged strike force with youngster Eddie Nketiah and Willian, while Alexandre Lacazette is resigned to a place on the bench.

Arsenal have also been successful in their bid to make defender Kieran Tierney available for selection.

The Scottish international was originally ruled out of the clash after being forced to self-isolate for 14 days.

That would have taken him beyond Saturday’s game but Arsenal have won their battle with the Scottish Government to gain permission for Tierney to play.

The 23-year-old will start on the left of Arsenal’s back four, with Hector Bellerin on the right and Gabriel and David Luiz forming the central defensive pairing.

Luiz produced an awful 25-minute performance on the same ground back in June when he made two errors, one of which led to a penalty and his sending off.

Man City will be without star man Kevin De Bruyne for the encounter though, and Arsenal currently have bragging rights after winning the last time the teams met in the FA Cup semi-final in July.

Predicted Arsenal XI (4-3-3): Leno; Bellerin,Gabriel, Luiz, Tierney; Partey, Elneny, Ceballos; Willian, Aubameyang, Nketiah.
