Arsenal appear to be one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window as we edge closer to the deadline at the end of the month.

The Gunners announced their intentions to strengthen their squad at the end of a disappointing 2020/21 campaign and they have so far followed through with their promises.

Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White have been added already – and Mikel Arteta is hungry for further new faces.

A goalkeeper remains a priority for Arsenal, with Bernd Leno the only trusted keeper on the books after Mat Ryan’s departure and with Alex Runarsson expected to leave on loan.

That is where the major activity is currently, but there are plenty more deals on the horizon in north London, Mirror Football bring you today’s latest rumours.

Arsenal have been chasing Sheffield United’s Aaron Ramsdale for much of the summer and it seems they are now close to getting their man.

Arteta’s side have seen two previous bids rejected but football.london reports they have now reached ‘advanced talks’ after improving their offer for the England international.

The Blades value Ramsdale at around £30million and it’s expected that the Gunners will pay an upfront fee in the region of £24m, with performance-related add-ons taking the fee towards the asking price.

Sheffield United boss Slavisa Jokanovic left Ramsdale out of his squad for their 1-0 EFL Cup win over Carlisle on Tuesday night, adding fuel to the speculation that a transfer could be close for the 23-year-old.

Club keeping Vlahovic’s agent close

The Gunners are keen on landing a striker this summer and have been keeping tabs on Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic, who caught the eye by scoring 21 goals in Serie A last season.

Tottenham are also interested in the 21-year-old and will reportedly make a move if a £60m deal for Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez does not materialise.

But they face competition from Inter, Atletico Madrid and Arsenal, who have now firmed up their interest in the striker, according to Corriere dello Sport .

The Italian newspaper says there has been ‘no lack of contact’ between Arsenal and Vlahovic’s agent Darko Ristic.

Fiorentina are in no rush to sell and are thought to want around £51m for Vlahovic’s signature.

Arsenal to hijack Spurs’ move for defender

Vlahovic is not the only deal Arsenal could gazump Spurs on, with reports suggesting they are also planning to hijack their rivals’ move for Bologna’s Takehiro Tomiyasu.

Spurs have been heavily linked with a £15m move for the Japanese international and were reportedly close to tying up a deal last month before moving for Cristian Romero instead.

Tuttosport reports that Tomiyasu’s versatility and relatively low transfer fee makes him an attractive prospect for Arsenal, who are still considering defensive reinforcements, despite White’s big-money arrival from Brighton.

Tomiyasu can play right-back as well as centre-back and at 22 years old represents a good investment.
