Mikel Arteta may be busy in the January transfer window with one club legend saying where the side must improve, and one reported target being told he won’t move
Mikel Arteta could be very busy come January.
The Gunners’ embarrassing 4-0 loss to Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday highlighted the Arsenal squad’s lack of depth and the club’s staff will be keen to improve things on the pitch wherever they can.
Arteta’s admission following that game highlights the uphill battle he will have to overcome if they are to challenge towards the top end of the table.
And with the January transfer window just around the corner, one reported target has been sent a very blunt message about moving to the Emirates.
A club legend has also spelled out exactly what is needed during the transfer window to make the club competitive on all fronts.

Arteta’s Liverpool admission
After Arsenal’s unbeaten run came to an end during the 4-0 loss to Liverpool on Saturday evening, Mikel Arteta was keen to apply some perspective.
The Gunners boss admitted there was a ‘difference’ between his side and Liverpool, whose squad has been together for several years now.
And the result perfectly highlights the job Arteta must now do at Arsenal.
Robert Pires sends transfer plan
Arsenal legend Robert Pires has told Mikel Arteta what he should do in the January transfer window.
The Gunners were the Premier League’s biggest spenders this summer as they splashed out £150million on the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Martin Odegaard, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
But despite all of the new arrivals in the last window, Pires has identified the two areas the club needs to improve on.
Arsenal warned off January transfer
Arsenal have been warned off of pursuing the signing of Romanian wonderkid Ianis Stoica.
Stoica, 18, has six goals and two assists in just 14 games for FCSB in his native country and has caught the eye of scouts from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.
Reports in Romania claim Arsenal are interested in the talented youngster and could visit Romania to thrash out a deal for him with the club’s controversial owner Gigi Becali.
But Becali has sent a very blunt message to Arsenal as they eye up the player’s signature.
