Arsenal have been told their £25million signing of Gabriel was “an absolute steal” by Kevin Campbell, who named the Brazilian’s five key qualities.
Gabriel has shone since his summer move from Lille to the Emirates Stadium and has received widespread praise for his dominant defensive performances.
And Gabriel kept another clean sheet during the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday, helping the Gunners come away from Old Trafford with three points for the first time in 14 years.
Former Arsenal striker Campbell has been impressed by what he’s seen from the young centre-back so far, with five of his attributes catching the eye.
“Finally Arsenal have got a centre-back who wants to defend, who likes to defend,” Campbell told Football Insider.
“You see Gabriel back there and he is making the players around him better. That is the sign of a top-class player.

“He is powerful, quick, strong, good on the ball and good in the air – Arsenal stole him for that price!
“That is an absolute steal because he is only going to get better. A very strong player that is only in his 20s. A signing that has hit the ground running straight away.”
Gabriel – who has represented Brazil at youth level – also caught Gary Neville’s eye with his performance against the Red Devils.
“Arsenal’s defensive performance has been brilliant, from front to back but the back three have been good,” Neville told Sky Sports .
“Gabriel has been fantastic, so far I’d say he’s been the best player on the pitch, for me.”
Gabriel has started six of Arsenal’s seven Premier League games this season and has also featured in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.
