Mikel Arteta after Arsenal’s victory against Leicester

With Mikel Arteta leading an Arsenal resurgence in recent weeks, hopes are once again high at the Emirates.

Unbeaten in their last nine Premier League matches, Arsenal have climbed up to sixth in the table with dreams of European football next season back on the cards.

While Arteta effectively bolstered his squad following a £150million summer spending spree, recruiting the likes of Aaron Ramsdale, Ben White and Takehiro Tomiyasu, a push for Europe could see yet more new arrivals come the New Year.

With the January transfer window fast approaching, sporting director Edu Gaspar will no doubt have one eye on the future whilst enjoying the performances of present.

Having seen Arteta turn the Gunners’ fortunes around this season and with momentum building, expect some activity from the north London club in the transfer market as they look to build on their recently established solid foundations.

Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer gossip coming out of the Emirates.

Andrea Belotti states his preference

Andrea Belotti looks likely to depart Torino after failing to agree a new deal

Much has already been made at Arsenal of the need to secure a new striker with Alexandre Lacazette yet to sign a new contract and looking set to depart the Emirates for free next summer.

The hunt for a new frontman will surely be the priority for January and according to reports in Italy, the Gunners may have identified the ideal replacement in Torino’s Andrea Belotti.

Arsenal are reportedly weighing up a move for the Italian marksman, according to Calciomercato, with Belotti likely to depart Turin after failing to agree a new contract.

However, Arteta’s side are believed to face stiff competition for the forward from both AC Milan and Inter, with Belotti supposedly have chosen his preference.

Unfortunately for Gunners fans, reports in Italy suggest the 28-year-old is in favour of a move to AC Milan, the club he’s supported all his life.

Luka Jovic to join on loan?

Luka Jovic could be on the move after finding minutes hard to come by with Real Madrid

Another option in attack could well be Real Madrid flop Luka Jovic, who has found minutes hard to come by under Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital.

The Serbian striker joined Los Blancos in the summer of 2019 off the back of a stellar season with German Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt where he struck 27 times in 48 appearances.

According to several reports, including European football reporter Ekrem Konur, Arsenal are preparing a loan offer with an option to buy as they look to end Jovic’s Madrid nightmare and solve their own forward troubles.

“Arsenal will make a loan offer for Luka Jovic with an option to buy to Real Madrid,” Konur tweeted. “Spanish giants want €25m (£21m) to sell the Serbian striker.”

Having only featured five times for Real this season, Jovic could well be tempted to seek first team opportunities elsewhere and Arsenal could be the perfect fit.

Paul Onuachu pushing for dream move

Genk’s Paul Onuachu is reportedly attracting plenty of interest from Premier League clubs

A cheaper striking alternative for the Gunners comes in the form of Genk’s Paul Onuachu.

The Nigerian forward who netted 35 times in 41 matches last term is reportedly a top transfer target for West Ham with other Premier League sides believed to be tracking his progress.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Arsenal are one of the clubs monitoring Onuachu, who would welcome the opportunity to join up with the north London side, the club he supported as a boy.

“I really like Arsenal. [Emmanuel] Adebayor, one of the players I admired most, played there. I really was a fan of him, including Kanu. I really love watching Arsenal too,” Onuachu was quoted as saying by Voetbal Nieuws.

His agent told Own Goal Nigeria: “It will be nice if Arsenal want him as he is a boyhood fan of the team.”

While Onuachu appears keen on the move, time will tell if Arsenal’s feelings are mutual.
