Arsenal vs Sunderland team news

Arsenal’s Covid outbreak has so far seen two players test positive – midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga and defender Pablo Mari – so neither will be available, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is not being considered for selection after being stripped of the captaincy over a disciplinary breach.

Emile Smith Rowe seems likely to start, having scored off the bench in each of the Gunners’ last two games since returning from injury, while the likes of Nuno Tavares, Mohamed Elneny, Rob Holding and Eddie Nketiah will be hoping for minutes.

Arsenal vs Sunderland prediction

It seems a given that Mikel Arteta will rotate his side due to the festive fixture pileup, but with no European football this season, the Spaniard is also surely desperate to go as far as possible in this competition and as long as his side are on it they should prove too good for the League One side.
