rsenal are looking to seal more new signings this summer, but Mikel Arteta insists he is happy to work with the players he already has as he stressed the difficulties of operating in the current transfer market.
The Gunners have spent around £75million in the current window so far on Ben White, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares and Arteta wants to boost his squad further before the deadline on August 31.
Arsenal are interested in Sheffield United goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale but have been put off by his £30m price tag.
Arteta said: “We are talking about probably the most difficult transfer market in this industry for the last few years and we are trying to adapt.
“In this first period of the transfer window we have done a few things we wanted to do that are going to help us get to a much better place. There is still some of the window to go.
“I am sure things will happen either way. I am willing to work with the players I have at the moment and we will see what we can do.”
Arteta believes the fact Lionel Messi left Barcelona shows the financial constraints on clubs.
“He has been the best ever player on the planet,” said the Spaniard. “He was raised in Barcelona, in a similar part of what I was, and to let him go the way it happened, it’s sad.”
The midfielder sustained the injury in the pre-season friendly against Chelsea and is set to miss next week’s clash with the Blues as well as the second round Carabao Cup tie with West Brom and the trip to Manchester City on August 28.
Arsenal will also be without Gabriel (knee) and Eddie Nketiah (ankle) for the rest of the month.
