Aston Villa vs Everton postponed due to ongoing coronavirus outbreak

ston Villa’s match with Everton on Sunday has been postponed as they continue to recover from a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad.

The club confirmed last week that a large number of first-team players and staff had tested positive for coronavirus.

That forced the club to play their Under-23 side in the FA Cup against Liverpool, while their match with Tottenham, that was due to be played yesterday, was postponed.

Villa’s next game with Everton had been moved from Saturday to Sunday in the hope they could play, but it has now been postponed too.

Villa say the “significant Covid-19 outbreak” is now under control and they expect members of the first-team squad and staff, who are healthy and safe to return to training, to do so on Sunday.

Aston Villa travel to Manchester City on Wednesday, before hosting Newcastle next weekend in a game that was postponed earlier this season.
