The Gunners need reinforcements in the final two weeks of the transfer window after a disastrous start to their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 defeat at Brentford
The Gunners’ embarrassing defeat to newly-promoted Brentford in Friday’s curtain-raiser has prompted criticism from all angles.
Arteta has been busy in the transfer window with deals completed for Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White.
But the inexperienced Spaniard’s squad still looks short and investment is needed before the August 31 deadline.
Meanwhile, the future of several first-team members has also been in doubt and outgoings are also expected before the window slams shut.
Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news surrounding the north London club…
Barca eye Aubameyang and Lacazette
Barcelona are reportedly interested in shock moves for Arsenal stars Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette this summer.
Sport claims that despite Catalan club’s financial crisis, they could pull off moves for either of the Gunners pair if Martin Braithwaite is sold for a significant fee.
Any deal would also need to include a player exchange as the La Liga side wouldn’t be able to afford a fee.
Who should Arsenal sign before the August 31 deadline? Let us know in the comments below
Aubameyang and Lacazette both missed the defeat to Brentford through illness but moves at this stage, particularly to Barcelona, would be surprising.
But Sport’s report adds that due to new signing Sergio Aguero’s lengthy injury setback, boss Ronald Koeman is targeting a new striker and has identified the Gunners duo as potential targets.

While Aubameyang is being linked with a move to Catalonia, it is also being reported that the Gunners would be open to selling their captain.
The Times suggest boss Arteta would be willing to sanction the 32-year-old’s exit this summer, despite the fact he signed a new long-term deal last year.
Aubameyang only notched 10 Premier League goals in the previous campaign and has come under fire for underwhelming performances.
The Gabonese international is said to be one of a number of players Arteta is willing to move one, including Lacazette who is entering the final year of his contract.
Abraham wanted Arsenal
Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is set to complete a permanent move to AS Roma.
Abraham will link up with Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital after falling out of favour under Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge.
Unfortunately, no offer came from the Gunners, who perhaps could have benefitted from the 23-year-old’s goalscoring prowess.
