Barcelona’s players would prefer the club snubbed Georginio Wijnaldum and Memphis Depay and made moves to sign Neymar, according to reports.
The Dutch midfielder is out of contract at Anfield this summer and has been linked with a Liverpool exit throughout the season.
Ronald Koeman has been looking to sign Wijnaldum ever since taking charge at the Nou Camp and can soon secure his services on a free.
Depay, another player to work with Koeman during his stint in charge of the Netherlands, is also on his radar.
The Lyon forward was pursued last summer but eventually remained at the Ligue 1 outfit.
His contract too is up in a matter of months and both players could be signed for free.
Jurgen Klopp has continued to play Wijnaldum regularly despite the uncertainty surrounding his future.
The 29-year-old was one of the German’s first signings and has helped deliver the Premier League and Champions League.
Koeman also made Wijnaldum a mainstay of the national side and is well aware of his qualities.
But those within the Catalan’s dressing room would much rather the club’s chiefs tried to bring Neymar back, reports Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish publication claims the Barcelona players are “dreaming of his return” following his departure in 2017.
Neymar is in the midst of contract negotiations with PSG and those within the Parc des Princes are confident he will extend his deal.
Barcelona have not given up hope of signing the Brazilian however and are prepared to offer Ousmane Dembele to sweeten any deal.
PSG chief Leonardo told Sky in Italy : “We will be happy to have talks about contracts too.
“I think we’ll have some news that will make us all happy soon, but we’ll see.
“We’ll get to a more concrete situation with them soon.”
