Belgium vs Russia: Euro 2020 – LIVE!

Roberto Martinez’s side are currently ranked No1 in the FIFA world rankings, but that means they can no longer be considered dark horses to finally land an international trophy – and they will rightly be considered among the favourites at the Euros this summer.

As for Russia, they head into this game as the underdogs, but will be determined not to lose on home soil – and their impressive World Cup quarter-final run back in 2018 proves they should not be underestimated in St Petersburg.

Belgium predicted XI: Courtois; Alderweireld, Denayer, Vertonghen; Meunier, Castagne, Dendoncker, Tielemans; E. Hazard, Carrasco; Lukaku

Russia predicted XI: Shuhin; Semyonov, Dzhikiya, Kudryashov; Fernandes, Zobnin, Ozdoev, Zhirkov; Golovin, Miranchuk; Dzbuya

With kick-off at 8pm BST, follow all the action on our LIVE Euros match blog!

We still do not have any confirmation of his precise medical situation though, so we are keeping Christian in our thoughts and we hope he makes a speedy recovery.

Christian Eriksen collapses

We are truly sorry to bring you this news, but Christian Eriksen received CPR on the pitch after collapsing during his Denmark’s game against Finland in Copenhagen.

Inter Milan player Eriksen dropped to the ground at the Parken Stadium shortly before half-time, leaving players from both teams in clear distress.

English referee Anthony Taylor called medics on to the pitch and Eriksen underwent prolonged treatment.

Team-mates formed a shield around the former Tottenham man, while fans inside the stadium were clearly stunned by the incident, with some pictured in tears.

UEFA has suspended the match, and it seems unlikely that it will resume – and it remains to be seen whether tonight’s game in Russia will go ahead, least of all given Belgium have a few of Eriksen’s former team-mates set to play.

Match prediction

While Belgium may not have De Bruyne to call on, they have plenty of star quality throughout their squad. Even though this game is in Russia, the Red Devils should get off the mark with a win.
