Bet of the day

Italy to win to nil v Israel @ 11/10

Israel found the net in a 3-1 defeat to Belgium in Debrecen on Friday night, but they may struggle to break down Italy.

The Azzurri looked a rejuvenated side when beating France 3-1 in Paris in their Nations League opener and they can now win to nil in Budapest.

Luciano Spalletti’s men limited France to only three shots on target on Friday, and while they disappointed at Euro 2024, they have the right man in charge to turn things around.

Clearly France are a vastly superior side to Israel and the Skyblue and Whites are going to have a tough time breaking down the Italian defence.

Israel managed only two shots on target against Belgium and they needed Red Devils defender Timothy Castagne to put through his own net to get on the scoresheet.

Italy can field excellent defenders Giovanni di Lorenzo and Alessandro Bastoni at the back and they are unlikely to give Israel any joy in Hungary.

Special of the day

Over 2.5 goals in Norway v Austria @ 5/6

Austria had to settle for a 1-1 draw in Slovenia on Friday, but those two goals made it 27 strikes in Das Team’s last eight matches and the goals look set to continue in Norway.

Norway have scored 15 goals in their last seven home matches and they can call on top-level performers Martin Odegaard and Erling Haaland in attack.

Austria are always on the front foot under Ralf Rangnick and there will be no thoughts other than three points from Das Team. That should ensure an open and attacking contest and backing over 2.5 goals looks the play in Oslo.

Long shot of the day

Belgium to beat France @ 16/5

Belgium have to be strong candidates for Bet of the Day on Monday, but at 10/3, the Red Devils rate the longshot play.

France looked in disarray when losing 3-1 to Italy in Paris on Friday night, a game where Les Bleus could have conceded more than three.

Clearly France have a talented squad, but Ferland Mendy, Aurelien Tchouameni and Wesley Fofana are out injured and Kylian Mbappe didn’t look anywhere near his best against the Italians.

Didier Deschamps has enjoyed plenty of success in charge of France, but Euro 2024 ended in disappointment, the style of play can hardly be described as progressive and Belgium are good enough to punish a below-par Les Bleus.

The Red Devils impressed when racking up 25 shots and an expected goals tally of 3.61 in their 3-1 win over Israel on Friday and Domenico Tedesco’s men look a solid bet for another win in this season’s Nations League.
