Mikel Arteta laments Xhaka injury blow for Arsenal

Arsenal are looking to make it four Premier League wins in a row as they travel to the south coast on Saturday afternoon for a clash with Brighton.

The Gunners arrive at the Amex in good spirits after a convincing 3-1 win in the north London derby in which Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe took centre stage.

The result followed 1-0 wins over Norwich City and Burnley to lift Mikel Arteta’s side into the top half of the table for the first time this season.

But Arsenal face a stern test to maintain their promising run against the Seagulls, who are soaring high in sixth place at this early stage of the season.

Arsenal come into the fixture on the back of a brilliant victory over Tottenham Hotspur

Brighton vs Arsenal team news

Arsenal were rocked earlier this week by news Granit Xhaka will be sidelined for three months with a knee injury sustained in the north London derby.

This comes as a major blow for the Gunners, who looked formidable in midfield with a partnership of Xhaka and Thomas Partey.

Other than the Switzerland international, Mikel Arteta has a full squad available to pick from.

Graham Potter has more issues on his plate, with star midfielder Yves Bissouma – who is linked with Arsenal – facing a late test to prove his fitness after a knock to his knee.

Elsewhere, defender Adam Webster is ruled out until after the international break while forward Danny Welbeck and midfielder Steven Alzate are set to miss out.

Midfielder Enock Mwepu is also a doubt due to a groin complaint.
