Bruno Fernandes said Manchester United must win the Europa League to show they are back as a major force.
United take on Villarreal in Gdansk on Wednesday, with talisman Fernandes set to play a major role in the quest to win a first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Fernandes said it was vital United, whose last trophy came in 2017 with the Europa League, start winning silverware again – starting tomorrow.
“I think everyone knows it’s important for us to win trophies,” said Fernandes.
“It’s important of course the most important for us is do what we train to do and try to win the game.
“The most important thing is that the team is growing up and improving a lot.
“Tomorrow will be a sign of more improvement. Nobody wants to lose but we want to improve and win trophies.
“Everyone is confident and waiting for the game. I think tomorrow we will pass the time like we do normally.
“We’ll study the opponents and tomorrow we’ll do something more.
“We know what we have to do and everyone is confident.
“We have time to think, rest and be ready for the game.”
