Chelsea had an open training session where fans attended and one supporter told Timo Werner to get out of the club while Romelu Lukaku was welcomed to the crowd
One Chelsea fan had a less-than-supportive message for Timo Werner after getting on the stadium tannoy.
It came during an open training session at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday as fans got an exclusive look at new signing Romelu Lukaku ahead of this weekend.
The Belgium international was signed from Inter Milan for £97m as Thomas Tuchel eyes a new striker amid problems over last season.
He was not impressed by the likes of Werner, Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud – with the latter two out on permanent transfers to AS Roma and AC Milan respectively in Italy.
And one fan has made his feelings clear over the remaining forward after telling him to get out of the club.
Supporters were given the chance to speak up at the event when the host asked them in the stands at Stamford Bridge who could they make out.
A fan was handed the microphone and said: “Let’s have it right… Timo Werner get out of my club.”
It produced a stunned reaction from the others sat nearby with some going to confront the prankster.
He was eventually chased out of the ground where he was spotted getting into a taxi with another fan speaking about the event on social media.
She tweeted: “Maybe I shouldn’t attend open training sessions #triggered’ with a crying with laughter emoji before adding ‘thanks people but I really ain’t no legend. Save that terminology for our ex players/managers.”
Werner has struggled for goals since his £50m move from RB Leipzig last summer where he scored just six times in the Premier League.
The Germany international had a tough time again at the weekend when he was deployed as the main man up front against Crystal Palace.
But there are high hopes for the 25-year-old after the arrival of Lukaku, who likes to play with a partner.
He said: “I think a lot is about communication. I’m a guy who is very open minded.
“I always ask my teammates questions. I ask what they want from me. The next couple of weeks is important for me to be open to the mindset.
Will Timo Werner come good this season? Comment below.
“We have a certain type of playing style here. I don’t have to adapt too much as with the national team we play in the same system. I will adapt to find a way to help the team.”
Both Lukaku and Werner had their best seasons when partnered up front with a striker that compliments their style.
The Belgian netted 30 times in all competitions with the zippy Lautaro Martinez at Inter Milan, where they won Serie A.
Whereas Werner scored 34 the year before he joined Chelsea when playing off Yussuf Poulson at RB Leipzig.
