Chelsea planning double striker sale as Lewandowski interest emerges

Chelsea have turned their season around after Thomas Tuchel arrived to replace Frank Lampard as manager in January.

The Blues are now favourites to land a spot in the top four of the Premier League and could be in the Champions League final.

A 1-1 draw in Spain sees them with a vital away goal against Real Madrid with either Manchester City or Paris Saint-Germain awaiting the victor.

Tuchel appears to have settled on a starting XI, which given Chelsea’s huge squad has spelt bad news for a handful.

Included are two strikers who barely get a look in while one centre-back could also be on his way out.

Here are the latest Chelsea transfer rumours and gossip.

Double departure

Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud could both leave Chelsea this summer

Tammy Abraham and Olivier Giroud look set to leave at the end of the season after being ostacised by Tuchel.

It represents a real shake-up of the striker department at Chelsea, with a new forward being eyed.

Neither Abraham or Giroud have impressed the Blues boss enough to warrant a first-team spot, with Timo Werner and Kai Havertz preferred forwards.

With Giroud’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Frenchman is expected to leave when his deal is up.

While Leicester and West Ham are interested in Abraham, the Telegraph report that Chelsea will only consider bids in the £40m region.

Lewandowski interest emerges

Chelsea are in the market for a new striker, with Abraham and Giroud set to depart in the summer transfer window.

As a replacement, Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has emerged as a potential contender.

Borussia Dortmund ace Erling Haaland and Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku are the top two targets but Chelsea may have problems landing either.

It has led them to look at potential alternatives, with the Telegraph also reporting that Bayern frontman Lewandowski is an option.

Chelsea want a big-name striker to arrive at Stamford Bridge and there are not many bigger than the Poland international.

Defence clearout

Fikayo Tomori looks set to sign for AC Milan on a permanent basis in the summer but he is not the only one one his way out.

Kurt Zouma could also join him in the departure lounge after losing his first-team spot under Tuchel.

With a centre-back on the German’s wish list, it would further push the former Everton loanee down the pecking order, with Bayern Munich star Niklas Sule being pursued.

The Telegraph report that Zouma has been attracting interest and the Blues could sell in order to bolster their funds.

The 26-year-old was a regular under Lampard and has scored five times in 20 Premier League appearances but has rarely featured under Tuchel.
