The Stamford Bridge outfit continue to be linked with a number of midfielders ahead of the January transfer window, although the solution may be a little closer to home
Thomas Tuchel still has one huge position in his squad he’d like to fill almost a year after joining the Blues.
The Stamford Bridge outfit had a largely successful summer transfer window as they brought in the goalscoring threat the coach craved as they brought Romelu Lukaku back to the club.
But it is in another key area where the German coach still desires improvement – midfield.
The Blues did manage to bring in Spanish midfielder Saul Niguez on loan on transfer deadline day but his signing has yet to show evidence that it could be any sort of overwhelming success.
That has reportedly left the club to continue looking for signings elsewhere – and they’ve now been linked with a Barcelona midfielder and one of Europe’s hottest properties.
But the real solution may actually be closer to home, if the club will give one player a chance to impress.
Here are all the latest Chelsea transfer rumours.

Gallagher’s Chelsea ‘reservations’
Conor Gallagher is having a very impressive season on loan with Crystal Palace and has now made his full England debut, getting Chelsea fans excited for his return next season.
But that may not be the case, with Eurosport ‘s transfer notebook claiming the player is “understood to have reservations about whether he will truly get a crack at Chelsea’s first team next season”.
The report adds that “sources close to the player say he still fears they will be tempted to strengthen the squad through the transfer market – reducing his chances of a breakthrough”.
It remains to be seen if the player will therefore stick around at Stamford Bridge or seek a move elsewhere.
Bid ready for £42m Barcelona star
Chelsea are ready to bid £42million for Barcelona midfield prodigy Gavi, according to Catalan publication El Nacional.
If the Blues are willing to stump up that amount, they would be free to speak to the player himself as it would activate the release clause in his contract, the report adds.
Despite being just 17 years old, Gavi has made 14 appearances for the club so far this season and has even broken into the senior Spainish national team and is being touted as a real star of the future.
But Barcelona are also reported to be working hard on tying the player down to a new deal which would bump his release clause up to a whopping €1bn (£840m).

The report states that the Blues would be willing to buy the player in January but loan him back to current club Monaco until next summer in order to secure the deal.
