Chelsea vs Luton Town: FA Cup – LIVE!

Frank Lampard knows nothing less than a win will do today as Luton stand in between Chelsea and a place in the FA Cup fifth round.

Five defeats in eight games have left Lampard under serious pressure, though Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has given the manager the benefit of the doubt – for now, at least.

On paper, a home cup tie against lower-league opposition would be welcome respite at this stage – though defeat at Stamford Bridge would surely leave Lampard’s position untenable.

Luton sit 13th in the Championship – eight points off the relegation zone, and nine off the playoffs – so this is something of a free hit for Nathan Jones’ Hatters.

Still, Lampard’s Blues badly need a win, and progress today would keep alive their hopes of FA Cup glory with Barnsley awaiting in the fifth round.

That was really poor from Kepa. Chelsea’s defending wasn’t good at all, but Clark’s shot wasn’t hit particularly hard and was close to him.

His future is almost certainly away from Stamford Bridge – but that won’t have done him any favours in trying to find a new club this month.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-1 Luton | Jordan Clark, 30 mins

Game on! Clark finds space at an angle inside the box to volley at goal – Kepa should keep it out, but can only get a hand to it to deflect it in!

25 mins: A little concern for Lampard as Abraham holds his shoulder, while Zouma goes down in pain. Zouma hobbles off for treatment, but should be OK to continue.

24 mins: Chelsea are in total control here – it’ll be a long way back for Luton who may already be thinking about trying to avoid a hammering here.

This has gone very bad, very quickly for Luton. As for Chelsea, this is about as confident and flowing as they’ve looked in a long, long time.

Abraham will sense a chance to really rack up the goals and maybe make a statement to Lampard.

GOAL! Chelsea 2-0 Luton | Tammy Abraham, 16 mins

It’s two for Abraham and Chelsea! James plays a one-two with Ziyech, who crosses – Sluga is in two minds and gets caught out, and Abraham cleverly dinks a header over the keeper.

Luton were not happy that the goal stood with two balls on the pitch, though it appears to be the case that the officials decided the extra ball didn’t have an impact on play. We’ll have a look into the specifics of that rule…

GOAL! Chelsea 1-0 Luton | Tammy Abraham, 10 mins

The hosts are ahead! It’s been coming – Chelsea take a quick throw to release Werner down the right, he tees up Abraham who finishes clinically. There were two balls on the pitch as Chelsea attacked, but the goal stands.

10 mins: Kurt Zouma loves a goal from a corner this season, but he heads over here. Lampard will be heartened by the last couple of minutes.

9 mins: Ziyech slices open the Luton defence with a gorgeous ball from halfway to set Abraham off, but Sluga does really well to race off his line and block the striker. Munt then sees an effort deflected for a corner as Chelsea crank up the pressure.
