Chelsea vs West Brom: Premier League – LIVE!

Premier League football returns today following the latest international break, with Stamford Bridge the first port of call on another busy weekend of action.

Chelsea will be considered strong favourites to extend their formidable unbeaten run under Thomas Tuchel and win to give themselves a four-point cushion in fourth spot before rivals West Ham head to Wolves on Monday night.

The miserly Blues are gunning for an eighth successive clean sheet across all competitions, having conceded just twice under their impressive new manager so far.

West Brom have a tough task ahead this afternoon with time quickly running out in the fight to avoid relegation to the Championship.

Sam Allardyce’s goal-shy side have won just one of their last 11 league matches and currently sit 19th, 10 points adrift of safety with only nine games left to play this season.

Chelsea predicted lineup

Here’s how Standard Sport’s James Robson sees Chelsea lining up at Stamford Bridge this afternoon…

(3-4-2-1) Mendy; Azpilicueta, Thiago, Rudiger; James, Jorginho, Kovacic, Alonso; Havertz, Mount; Werner

Standard Sport prediction

Though the Baggies could be dangerous given their worrying position, Tuchel boasts a mean defence and enough attacking talent to collect a comfortable victory.

West Brom team news

West Brom are missing on-loan Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who is not permitted to play against his parent club.

Otherwise Sam Allardyce has no new injury concerns, with forward Hal Robson-Kanu available despite his breach of protocols on Wales duty this week.

Chelsea team news

Chelsea are without N’Golo Kante today and likely for the Champions League quarter-final first-leg meeting with FC Porto on Wednesday.

The French midfielder suffered a torn hamstring while away on international duty and has been training alone.

Better news for Thomas Tuchel is Thiago Silva’s return from a thigh injury and Tammy Abraham’s recovery from an ankle problem.

Jorginho and Callum Hudson-Odoi should also be fit, while the manager has already confirmed that Timo Werner will start this afternoon.

Edouard Mendy is also ready to play following a dental procedure.
