A Cheltenham Festival punter will collect more than £500,000 from a £5 ante-post wager if hot favourite Envoi Allen wins on Thursday.
Paul Dean took to social media on Wednesday to share the details of his bet, which progressed to the final leg after Bob Olinger took the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle.
Envoi Allen is now the 4-9 favourite for the Marsh Novices’ Chase with Betfair.
If he takes the opening race on day three, Dean will win £511,225.
So far the £5 accumulator bet has consisted of 12-1, 10-1, 4-1 and 25-1 winners.
The bookmaker has offered him £275,000 to cash out before the final horse runs at 1.20 on Thursday.
Betfair spokesman Barry Orr said: “The customer is sitting on over half a million pound payout for just a £5 bet and told me he won’t be able to sleep tonight. I’d say that’s a massive understatement.
“He could take the cash out offer of £275,000 and sit back safe in the knowledge that regardless of what happens in the race he is £275,000 better off, or he can reject the offer and hope that Envoi Allen beats his seven opponents and also safely negotiate the 16 fences to land his incredible bet.
‘”Envoi Allen is 4/9 favourite so he may well stick and let the bet run’.”
