Conor Coady recalls horrifying moment of Raul Jimenez’s injury in Arsenal win

Conor Coady has opened up on the sickening moment Raul Jimenez sustained a serious injury during Wolves ‘ Premier League fixture at Arsenal.

Though Wolves impressed with a 2-1 victory at the Emirates, the Sunday night game was marred by an early injury suffered by Jimenez.

The Mexican striker clashed heads with Arsenal defender David Luiz and spent many minutes on the pitch receiving medical treatment before he was rushed to hospital.

Coady confirmed his teammate was “awake and breathing” as he recalled the frightening moment Jimenez fell to the ground.

“We didn’t like it when it happened, it was something you knew straight away,” the Wolves captain told Sky Sports .

Coady sent his well wishes to Luiz as he provided an update on Jimenez

“We hope David Luiz is OK as well, because it was a horrible clash of heads. It happens in football but you don’t like to see it, I think both sets of players went out and then played properly, did it right.

“It was a tough thing that happened but we just hope and pray everything is OK because that’s the one thing we’re thinking about right now.

“I was at the front just behind him so I jumped with him as well and you heard it, and as he dropped, he was just on his side.

“I think it was important we kept him on his side as well and get the doctors on, but it’s something we never want to see with our teammate or with anybody in the Premier League.

“I hope and I pray that everything’s OK, because that’s the one thing that matters today. We got a fantastic result but the one thing that matters is making sure that Raul and David Luiz are both OK.”

Coady was also asked if it was difficult to refocus after seeing his teammate suffer a serious injury. He responded: “You’ve got to, you’ve got 80 minutes or more left of a game so I think you’ve got to.

“The thing is you go and play and hope you get the win for Raul and for what he does for us.”
