Conte frustrated as Tottenham launch panic Kulusevski transfer bid
Antonio Conte has been left scrambling for signings in the final days of the January transfer window after seeing moves for two of Tottenham’s top transfer targets hijacked
Tottenham have turned their attention to Juventus attacker Dejan Kulusevski as Antonio Conte ‘s frustrations over their failure to secure his transfer targets continue to mount.
The Italian was desperate to freshen up his squad in the January transfer window, but has so far been left exasperated having missed out on a number of top targets.
The north Londoners appeared set to make Wolves winger Adama Traore their first signing of the month, however, Barcelona have since swooped in to agree terms over a loan with an option to buy.
A move for highly-rated Porto attacker Luis Diaz was then on the cards, only for Liverpool to ramp up their interest and hijack a potential deal, with talks now at an advanced stage.
With Conte growing increasingly frustrated at the club’s failings on the transfer front so far, it now appears as though Tottenham are scrambling to secure signings as Monday’s deadline fast approaches.
Mirror Football understands Spurs are now targeting Kulusevski, and his current Juventus team-mate Alvaro Morata, in a desperate bid to salvage their troubled transfer window.
The club are stepping up their attempts to strengthen over the coming days amid fears Conte could quit if his current side don’t bring in quality reinforcements.
The north Londoners are believed to be in talks with the 21-year-old over an initial loan, though the Serie A side are reportedly pushing for an obligation-to-buy clause to be included within the deal.
Arsenal, Everton and AC Milan are also said to be keen on the Swede, who has experience of playing as a right-sided attacker, an inside forward and even a number eight.
Much was expected of Kulusevski following his £35m move from Atalanta two years ago this month, but the wide man has failed to kick on after featuring in the Juve first-team fold last season.

The youngster has only found the net twice in 27 appearances across all competitions for the Bianconeri so far this term, with Spurs’ approach appearing somewhat of a panic move having seen Traore and Diaz slip through the net.
Morata, who is currently on loan at Juventus from Atletico Madrid, remains another potential option up front and previously worked with Conte at Chelsea, though the Italian declared a preference for Harry Kane at the time.
It looks set to be a frantic few days for Spurs with the club still yet to complete a signing despite their aims of targeting reinforcements at right wing-back, in central midfielder and up front ahead of the window.
In addition to Conte’s frustrations over transfer failings, Tottenham’s fanbase also appear to be unhappy at seeing the club once again resort to improvised signings late on in the window having seen the club miss out on top targets and fail to display a considered strategy in the market.
Spurs are also believed to be keen on Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat but appear to working on deals to offload some of their current midfield options before adding to that department.
Tanguy Ndombele, Giovani Lo Celso and Dele Alli could all leave before Monday’s deadline, while summer signing Bryan Gil is another who may be allowed to go out on loan this month.
