The Manchester United forward has been recognised for his impressive return to the Premier League along with Liverpool’s “goal machine” Mohamed Salah
Cristiano Ronaldo’s dream return to Manchester United has been recognised with the forward nominated to be the Premier League ’s Player of the Month for September.
The 36-year-old sealed his move back to Old Trafford at the start of the month, signing a two-year contract with the Red Devils.
And he’s unsurprisingly hit the ground running, scoring three times in as many league games for the club.
He was unable to continue his domestic scoring run against Aston Villa last weekend, but did find the net in both of their Champions League encounters so far.
The forward will look to continue his white-hot start back in English football when they take on Everton this weekend.
He goes into that fixture on the back of more goalscoring heroics, with his 95th minute winner earning United a valuable Champions League win over Villarreal.
Speaking after the 2-1 victory, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “That’s what happens here at Old Trafford, it’s happened so many times before.
“Champions League games at Old Trafford are magic and sometimes the fans help us.
“Sometimes it’s not about passes here or there, it’s about the crowd, and the Stretford End has sucked a few in before, I know that.
“That’s probably what happened and when you have Cristiano on the pitch, you always have a chance.
“He’s so good in front of goal and has an impact on everyone – the crowd, the players the whole club.”

Ronaldo is one of six players up for the award, along with Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian has continued his prolific scoring record at Anfield, already registering five goals and two assists with the Reds top of the Premier League table.
Salah brought up his 100th league goal for Liverpool against Brentford last time out, becoming the fastest in the club’s history to reach that landmark.
Following his goal, Jurgen Klopp compared his forward to Bayern Munich goal machine Robert Lewandowski.
“Mo Salah is absolutely up there with him, there is no doubt about that,” Klopp said. “Mo is a goal machine.
“His professionalism is absolutely second to none. He does everything to be always fit and stay on track. First in, last out, all these kind of things – that’s Mo.
