Cristiano Ronaldo & Mauro Icardi ‘considered for swap’ between Juventus and PSG

Cristiano Ronaldo and Mauro Icardi have reportedly been considered for a shock swap deal between Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain this summer.

The pair are both previous targets for their potential suitors, with Ronaldo’s global standing and infectious winning mentality possibly the final piece of the puzzle to the Ligue 1 outfit finally winning an elusive Champions League.

That was what he was brought to Turin to do in 2018, having won five in his career, so far being unsuccessful.

Icardi, on the other hand, was heavily linked to the Bianconeri in 2019 before making an initial loan switch to the French capital from Inter Milan and enjoying a productive season before struggling this term as Lille secured a surprise title win.

Now, though, the pair could be on the move again in a move that would rock the transfer market.

Ronaldo and Icardi could be swapping club colours come the new season

L’Equipe claim Juve are considering offering Ronaldo to the Parisians to try and bring Icardi to Turin.

The France-based outlet’s report comes at a surprising time, two afters the Italian giants insisted that CR7 has given no indication he wants to leave Turin and that they expect their talisman back for pre-season training this month.

Ronaldo is coming off the back of a disappointing team but phenomenal individual European Championships, winning the Golden Boot with five goals despite being knocked out at the last-16 with the holders, Potrtugal.

The 36-year-old scored an outstanding 29 goals in 33 league games to drag his side to Champions League qualification in 2021-22, proving himself as still one of the very best but is unsurprisingly paid astronomical wages.

Icardi was not part of the Argentina squad which helped Lionel Messi claim the Copa America at the fourth attempt this month.

The striker is a divisive figure, having endured his fair share of controversy during seven years in Italy, where he was Inter’s captain for a time and clashed with club ultras.

Icardi has scored in both of PSG’s friendlies, playing a half in each but the 28-year-old made just 11 league starts last term due to a string of injuries.

The deal which saw the striker move permanently is believed to contain a clause of £12 million paid to the Milan club if he were to join a Serie A rival.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have stormed the transfer window thus far, with Qatar Sports Investments splashing the cash.

Ronaldo’s ex-Real team-mate Sergio Ramos is the most high-profile arrival at the Parc des Princes but two stars of the present and future have joined the 35-year-old.

Euro 2020 Player of the Tournament winner Gianluigi Donnarumma and former Chelsea target Achraf Hakimi have been picked up from AC and Inter respectively.

Georginio Wijnaldum has also joined for free like Donnarumma as Pochettino looks to win his first title.

Massimiliano Allegri, who was in charge of Ronaldo in the former Manchester United no. 7’s first campaign, is back in the Allianz Stadium hot seat replacing Andrea Pirlo following a season that saw Juve finish fourth.

The returning boss has the aim of returning the Old Lady to the top domestically after Hakimi’s Antonio Conte-led Nerazurri claimed the scudetto last time out and ended a run of nine successive Bianconeri triumphs.
