Manchester United sack Ole Gunnar after Watford defeat

Cristiano Ronaldo was left aghast by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the former Manchester United manager delivered a baffling team talk, according to reports.

United sacked Solskjaer last Sunday after the club suffered their fifth defeat in seven Premier League games, a chastening 4-1 loss at Watford.

The Norwegian was unable to get the best out of a gifted squad having been heavily backed in the summer transfer window with the signings of Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane.

Despite the team’s poor results, Ronaldo has been a beacon of consistency and he has registered an impressive 10 goals and two assists in 14 appearances this season.

The superstar striker enjoyed a dream second debut for the club as he scored twice against Newcastle United in September.

Ronaldo also found the back of the net three days later against Young Boys, but what looked an easy fixture on paper soon turned into a nightmare.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka was sent off for United in the first half and the Swiss minnows pulled off a second-half comeback to stun their visitors.

Moumi Ngamaleu equalised and Theoson Siebatcheu sent the Stade de Suisse into frenzy by scoring the winner in the 95th minute.

It was undoubtedly an embarrassing night for the Red Devils, but Solskjaer left his squad ‘bemused’ by praising their performance in the 2-1 defeat.

That is according to the Sunday Times , which claims the 48-year-old told his players he was ‘really happy’ with their efforts and that he ‘liked the way they played’.

Ronaldo could not get his head around Solskjaer’s post-match team talk and he is said to have challenged him by branding the performance ‘awful’.

Although he did not agree with his manager, Ronaldo continued to contribute a regular supply of goals and his record in the Champions League this season is exquisite.
