Croatia vs Spain: Euro 2020 – LIVE!

The fifth last-16 tie at Euro 2020 pits two teams looking to build momentum after slow starts.

For Croatia, defeat to England and a draw with Czech Republic was followed by a Luka Modric-inspired win over Scotland to secure their place in the knockout stages.

Spain answered their growing critics after toothless draws with Spain and Poland with a 5-0 thrashing of Slovakia, and now face a side their hit for six less than three years ago.

Croatia’s task was made tougher with Ivan Perisic’s positive Covid test, though Ante Rebic is an able deputy. Modric and Mateo Kovacic will look to better a fearsome midfield.

Spain could be forced into changes at the back, but underfire Alvaro Morata is expected to keep his place up front with Diego Simeone standing by his striker.

Spain team news

For Spain, Sergio Busquets is back after his own positive covid result meaning Luis Enrique has a full squad to pick from.

Alvaro Morata is likely to keep his place despite some underwhelming performances. Cesar Azpilicueta faces a fight to remain at right-back.

Croatia team news

Croatia will be without Ivan Perisic tonight after testing positive for Covid.

Perisic, who scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw with the Czech Republic and a late goal in a 3-1 win over Scotland in the group stage, will be left behind in self-isolation as Croatia travel to Copenhagen for the clash with the Spaniards on Monday. Ante Rebic has been tipped to replace him.

Perisic, who tested positive for Saturday, is to spend 10 days in self-isolation, meaning he would only be available for the final on July 11 at Wembley if Croatia reach it.

His absence is a major blow for World Cup runners-up Croatia as they look to get past a Spain team who hit their stride and reached the knockout stages with a 5-0 win over Slovakia.
