Crystal Palace vs West Brom: Premier League – LIVE!

Sam Allardyce returns to Selhurst Park this afternoon, looking to get one over on his former club and boost the Baggies’ slim survival chances.

West Brom – who have only one away win to their name in 2020/21 – are currently 19th in the Premier League and eight points adrift of safety with only 10 matches left to play this season, but have tightened things up defensively of late.

Hosts Palace, meanwhile, lie 13th but with a comfortable eight-point buffer to the bottom three despite a 4-1 thrashing at Tottenham last time out that ended their own impressive defensive run.

The potential return of Wilfried Zaha to the starting XI this afternoon should help Roy Hodgson’s side at the other end of the pitch after a run of four home fixtures without a goal.

Palace have won just one of their last six games, but will be expected to get a positive result here.

Palace injury woes continue

Palace’s long-standing injury issues have not improved in other areas however, with no fewer than seven players ruled out this afternoon.

James McArthur, James McCarthy, Nathaniel Clyne, Mamadou Sakho, James Tomkins, Tyrick Mitchell and Nathan Ferguson are all still sidelined.

Zaha poised to start?

Wilfried Zaha could return to the Crystal Palace starting XI today for the first time since the hamstring injury that forced him off early at Newcastle on February 2.

The attacking talisman was introduced as a half-time substitute against Spurs last weekend and suffered no setbacks, so should feature from the first whistle this afternoon.

That should provide a major boost for Roy Hodgson’s men, who have gone four consecutive home league games without scoring.

Standard Sport prediction

Crystal Palace 0-0 West Brom

Crystal Palace were, arguably, unlucky to go down 4-1 at Tottenham after resolute performances against Brighton, Manchester United and Fulham, while the Baggies have been similarly impressive at the back in recent weeks.

One goal conceded in four games, including against United and Everton, has given West Brom a glimmer of hope. A result against Palace, you feel, is a must. But we think the spoils will be shared.
