David Beckham insists playing and living in Miami is a draw for players as his MLS outfit continue to be linked with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi.
Beckham’s ambitious plan is beginning to take shape and they are attracting quality names.
His Inter Miami side have the likes of Gonzalo Higuain and Blaise Matuidi in their ranks.
Top European stars have regularly decided to see out their playing days in the MLS.
Players like Kaka and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have graced the league recently – and Beckham insists individuals will always be attracted to the MLS.
“When we announced Miami, there was always going to be talk about what players we were going to bring in, whether it was Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar,” Beckham told ESPN.
“There was always going to be those discussions. I actually don’t think it’s a tough one for players to decide, to be honest, because it’s a great place.”
Inter Miami haven’t enjoyed a great start to life on the pitch.
They finished 10th in the Eastern Conference, exiting the first round of the playoffs in a campaign that was impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.
Beckham has since appointed Phil Neville has his head coach following his time with the England’s Womens team.
He is confident that his former United team-mate has the skills to succeed and hopes big names will soon follow.
“Obviously, it’s a great city, I feel like we’ve got a great fan base, but I also understand there’s great talent in Miami and South Florida,” he added.
