DAZN apologise after Berlanga launches into expletive rant about De La Hoya

Edgar Berlanga continued to hit out at Oscar De La Hoya as he launched into a foul-mouthed tirade on Wednesday.

Ahead of his fight with Canelo on Saturday, Berlanga took issue with De La Hoya labelling the upcoming bout as a ‘snoozefest’.

De La Hoya, who is embroiled in a bitter feud with Canelo after their acrimonious split, said on Monday: “I’m the PPV king and @Canelo vs @EdgarBerlangaJr fight will not exceed 100k homes.

“Nobody is paying $90 for this snooze fest. Just speaking the facts as always.”

An upset Berlanga responded: “How can a scumbag like Oscar hate on me and the event?

“You somebody a lot of fighters looked up to. You are a f****** w***** @OscarDeLaHoya.”

And before the conclusion of the pre-fight press conference on Wednesday, Berlanga continued his tirade against the American boxing promoter.

“I want to say something too. F*** Oscar De La Hoya too,” Berlanga said. “That motherf*****, he keep talking, keep talking.

“We’re gonna smack him when we see him. You gotta stop… he trying to f*** up the event.”

Canelo was initially ordered by the IBF to face mandatory challenger William Scull next.

However, the former pound-for-pound king chose to face Berlanga instead as it made ‘more financial sense’.

As a result, Canelo was stripped of the IBF strap and thus his undisputed status at 168lbs.

A vacant IBF title fight was then ordered between Scull and Vladimir Shishkin.

If Canelo chooses not to face the winner of that bout then it’s expected he’ll face Terence Crawford next.

This fight is understood to be at the top of the wishlist for Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh, who recently said that Crawford isn’t interested in any other fights.

Canelo is open to facing Crawford but insists it will be an ‘easy fight’ for him.

“You know, what we saw in the last fight with him [vs Israil Madrimov], I think that’s why there are weight classes,” he told Manouk Akopyan.

“That’s what I think, it’s an easy fight for me. He’s moving a lot and he’s a good fighter and a good boxer but I will figure him out.”
