Deontay Wilder expects Tyson Fury to cheat during trilogy fight

Deontay Wilder has claimed that Tyson Fury is going to cheat in their trilogy fight later this month, and has doubled down on his many previous accusations of wrongdoing in their rematch.

Wilder has said that he believes Fury tampered with his gloves in their second fight early last year, leading him to cause a severe injury to his ear.

He has also said that he has concerns his water was spiked by somebody behind the scenes to help facilitate a weaker performance on the night.

And Wilder now claims that he is prepared for the Gypsy King to cheat again when they square off on July 24 for the heavyweight championship in Las Vegas.

“You think he ain’t gonna try to cheat this time?” Wilder asked 78SPORTSTV in a lengthy interview last night. “Oh they’re thinking of it, they’re coming up with a master plan.

“But my thing to him – man, you couldn’t even get me out on loaded gloves and the conditions I was under, you couldn’t knock me out, you didn’t knock me out.

“They dressed that up… I can’t dress that up no other way, no other gown will fit that woman other than a cheat, that’s it, but when they do that it’s the biggest thing that ever happened in boxing history.

“But I sleep well at night, I’m happy and I’m happy the situation came upon me because it woke me up more than I was already awake and it’s given me a new drive, a different motivation in the sport.”

Fury did stop Wilder in the seventh round of their February 2020 fight, after having knocked the American down twice in the earlier rounds forcing his corner to throw in the towel.

But Wilder proceeded to blame a number of reasons on his failure to defend his title, including branding his trainer who threw the towel in; Mark Breland, as ‘disloyal’ and removing him from his team.

Fury has denied all claims that he cheated, and the WBC said early last year that they see no reason to investigate the claims with any severity.

Wilder’s claim that Fury stuffed his gloves with ‘something the size and shape of an egg-weight’ would imply one of the most considerable conspiracies in boxing history.

The WBC, Nevada Athletic Commission, referee Kenny Bayless and a cornerman from Wilder’s team would all need to have colluded to allow something that substantial to be placed within Fury’s gloves without it being spotted in pre-fight checks.

Wilder reiterated his bizarre claims later in the interview, saying he was ‘puzzled’ by a number of factors in his rematch with Fury.

“How did the gloves bend at a 90 degree angle?” He questioned. “How does it have a smushed in form and keep a smushed in form?

“I’m very confused, when you go back and say when the sport is corrupt and racism plays a big part in it, they don’t want to hear that, they don’t want to hear the pretty truth.

“They’d rather walk around with an ugly lie on their face, especially when they’re dealing with guys of my complexion, which we hate to keep bringing up.”
