Thor Bjornsson Explains Grappling Session With Conor Mcgregor

Dustin Poirier has said that he would be willing to fight Conor McGregor for a fourth time if the UFC were willing to pay him more.

Poirier made a massive amount for his involvement in his last two fights with the Irishman, particularly their trilogy bout, where he was given pay-per-view points on what was a record-breaking event.

But he says he would need to have “some commas on that check” added if he were to take what would be an unprecedented fourth bout with the Irishman.

Asked by Valuetainment ’s Patrick Bet-David if he would fight McGregor again, Poirier said: “I mean, I will if he can heal up and if they can add some commas on that check I think, yeah.”

Poirier also admitted that McGregor is the hardest hitter he has ever faced, saying that he felt that power particularly when he lost their first fight in 2014.

The pair first met when they were both featherweight contenders, and McGregor brutally stopped Poirier within two minutes of their meeting at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Many fans want McGregor to face Poirier for a fourth time

“As the biggest puncher I fought? Yeah, he’s a special individual for sure,” Poirier said of McGregor.

“I fought him in 2014, lost and that was when his trajectory was just – sky was the limit.

“He was on his way up and he tore through everybody and became a two-weight world champion.”

And Poirier added that after fighting McGregor twice this year, with the Irishman considerably less dangerous of a prospect in many people’s eyes, he still holds that power and risk to opponents.

“Yeah I fought him twice this year,” Poirier continued. “It’s still the same, very dangerous.”

And losing that bout in 2014 reportedly made Poirier consider his career, despite being just 25 years of age.

He would ultimately return to the cage and go on a streak that led him to the interim lightweight title, and two wins over McGregor that made him one of the biggest stars in the sport.

“The first time I fought Conor McGregor, I was close to a title shot,” Poirier explained.

“I was ranked in the top two in the world and I went out there and got beat by a guy who’s running his mouth and saying all these things.

“When I got back home I was just like looking in the mirror, saying, ‘What am I doing here? What’s going on?’ I put everything I had into this and I went out there and lost.”

Poirier lost his title unification bout with Khabib Nurmagomedov after winning the interim belt, but is now set for another shot at the undisputed title.

He is expected to face champion Charles Oliveira for the belt on December 11 at UFC 269 which looks set to take place in Las Vegas.
