Eidevall ‘incredibly proud’ of Arsenal despite Tottenham draw

onas Eidevall was adamant his Arsenal side deserved to win the north London derby, but felt they were left to rue a period where they lost the initiative.

The 1-1 draw against Tottenham was the first time Arsenal have dropped points in a Women’s Super League match this season, and saw them concede for just the third time.

Vivianne Miedema scored an injury-time equaliser to ensure Eidevall’s side got at least a point from the match, and the manager was satisfied with the display he saw despite bemoaning a disappointing period in the second-half.

“We had a really poor ten minutes after their goal where we lose control and where the game could have gotten away from us if Tottenham had scored a second goal,” Eidevall said.

“It’s important to regain control quickly.

“Then saying that, we score right at the end and we can’t take that for granted that we have the resilience to create in a stressful moment.

“When you look at the performance I’m incredibly proud, but of course we can do better.”

Arsenal have been in ruthless form this season and sit four points clear at the top of the WSL table, but Chelsea have a game in hand on the Gunners.

Eidevall felt that the level of performance against Tottenham was similar to that produced in matches Arsenal have won comfortably.

“When you look at the game objectively as a whole, we should have won because we created so many goal scoring opportunities,” Eidevall said.

“The game was similar to plenty of games we have won three or four nil with the difference that we didn’t convert the chances.”
