England are in the final of Euro 2020 after beating Denmark 2-1 at Wembley.
The Three Lions had to come from behind after conceding their first goal at the tournament through Mikkel Damsgaard stunning free-kick.
That took the game to extra-time with Harry Kane’s rebounded penalty proving to be the decisive moment.
Gareth Southgate’s heroes will face Italy on Sunday in a showdown that will see either England lift their first trophy since the World Cup or Roberto Mancini’s men win their second title.
Kane smashed home the winner – a penalty won by Sterling – a minute before the end of the first period of extra time.
The award created controversy as referee Danny Makkelie failed to stop play with two balls on the field. Also the challenge on Sterling from Joakim Maehle was deemed soft.
The Danes had earlier stunned the whole of England with a superbly-struck free kick on 30 minutes from the country’s rising star, Sampdoria forward Mikkel Damsgaard.
But England hit back superbly, six minutes before the break, when Bukayo Saka’s low ball was turned past Denmark keeper Kasper Schmeichel by Simon Kjaer with Sterling poised to score.
