England fans make pivotal TV decision ahead of Euro 2020 final vs Italy

Mirror readers have had their say on the most important aspect of the Euro 2020 final in our bumper survey – the channel they’ll be tuning into at 8pm to watch the spectacle!

In our big Mirror TV survey, we asked England supporters and football fans what channel they’d be tuning into the catch the final. Thousands responded, and 79% of survey participants stated that they would be picking the BBC’s coverage of England v Italy over ITV’s broadcast.

The BBC’s coverage of the final begins at 18:20 on BBC One and iPlayer. Gary Lineker will, as usual, host – and is joined by former Three Lions stars Rio Ferdinand, Alan Shearer and Frank Lampard. Gabby Logan, Jurgen Klinsmann and Alex Scott wil; be pitchside for that broadcast.

As for ITV, Mark Pougatch, Ian Wright, Gary Neville and Roy Keane will host the broadcast of England v Italy – with Emma Hayes, Ashley Cole . ITV’s build-up beings at 18:30.

On commentary for the BBC Guy Mowbray will be joined by Jermaine Jenas and Kelly Somer, while the ITV team will feature Sam Matterface and Lee Dixon.

Millions of supporters from around the country will be watching the game tonight

That’s not all England fans voiced their opinion on, though. They picked their favourite pundits – with a host of them displayed above.

The vote for the favourite pundits of the nation led to the wide range of experts and commentators utilised during the course of Euro 2020 creating quite a crowded field – and ex-players in Men’s football ruled the day.

Gary Lineker’s 12% leads the runners-up in the category, with Alan Shearer, Gary Neville, Micah Richards and ex-Scotland international Ally McCoist tailing.

It was Arsenal legend Ian Wright who took the honour of England’s favourite pundit, though, pipping Lineker to the post in a prime display of goal poaching.

Roy Keane polled more popularly than Graeme Souness – who himself beat Jurgen Klinsmann, while ex-Arsenal baller Alex Scott and current Chelsea Women gaffer Emma Hayes polled higher than Ashley Cole, Guy Mowbray, Frank Lampard and Patrick Viera amongst others to add to their growing acclaim on the broadcast scene.

No matter where you watch, or who is commentating – the main thing England fans wish to see is not only an exciting game on both BBC One and ITV, but for either Mowbray or Matterface to declare that football is coming home. If England can get the job done, either channel will do!
