It was no shock to see England striker Harry Kane among the favourites before the tournament given he won the individual prize at the 2018 World Cup with six goals – but he is without a goal after two games.
Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo had three times in his opening two games of the tournament, and bagged a penalty against France on Wednesday to make it four goals so far to take himself top of the standings.
In joint second are Belgium star Romelu Lukaku, the Czech Republic’s Patrik Schick, Netherlands midfielder Gini Wijnaldum, Sweden’s Emil Forsberg and Poland’s Robert Lewandowski with three goals apiece.
Next up is Manuel Locatelli, with a well-taken double for Italy in a 3-0 drubbing of Switzerland, as well as fellow Azzuri forward Ciro Immobile.
Ukraine stars Roman Yaremchuk and Andriy Yarmolenko also have two apiece, while Netherlands duo Denzel Dumfries and Memphis Depay have doubles for the tournament as well along with Switzerland talisman Xherdan Shaqiri.
Denmark’s Yussuf Poulsen and Croatia winger Ivan Perisic have also notched braces, and there is an England player on the list with Raheem Sterling finding the net twice.
