Frankie Dettori on next rides Magical Morning and Frankel’s sister Chiasma

Dettori finished a close second on Sir Lucan at Goodwood yesterday. He rounds off his week aboard Unibet Golden Mile Handicap runner Magical Morning

Magical Morning has every chance in the Golden Mile at Goodwood on Friday.

He’s a very tough horse who won well at Sandown last time out, but he’s gone up a bit in the weights as a result and these handicaps are hard to win.

He ran here last year and was a bit disappointing, but nothing went his way.

He was slowly away, keen in the early stages and had to go very wide to get a run, so I wouldn’t look into that race too much.

The draw is usually quite important in these big-field handicaps and 11 isn’t too bad at all.

That said, you never know quite how the race is going to pan out and you basically need about five or six different plans in your head.

As for conditions, apparently there could still be a few more showers and he’s one that handles a bit of cut underfoot, so that shouldn’t be an issue.

It would also be nice to ride a winner at the meeting for Lady Bamford who is such a big supporter of Clarehaven.

That will be my last ride of the festival as I’m up at Newmarket on Saturday to ride Chiasma .

It takes a nice one to drag you away from Goodwood so hopefully she runs well.

She won well when I made the trip to Kempton on a Wednesday night to ride her last time and she will hopefully take another step forward.

As a sister to Frankel, she’s got big boots to fill but she’s heading in the right direction.
