Fulham vs Blackpool suspended after medical emergency in the stands

Fulham’s match with Blackpool has been halted due to medical emergencies at Craven Cottage

Fulham‘s clash with Blackpool has been temporarily suspended due to a medical emergency in the stands at Craven Cottage.

The west Londoners were leading 1-0 in the 16th minute when the referee was alerted to an incident in the Hammersmith End.

Both sets of players have been taken off the field of play and medical staff are currently involved with the person who has been taken ill.

Aleksander Mitrovic had given the hosts an early lead, scoring his 28th goal of the season after a well-worked move.

Fulham tweeted : “There’s a pause in play, due to a medical incident in the Hammersmith End.”

The Cottagers were beaten by Blackpool earlier in the season in one of just four defeats this campaign but Tangerines boss Nigel Critchley was still wary of Marco Silva’s side pre-match.

“We know Fulham away, with the form they’re in, this is the most difficult game you face in this division. You can’t get a tougher fixture than this,” Critchley said.

“They’ve won the most games in the division, they’ve lost the least, they’re a Premier League team in waiting really.

“We know the task we’re facing, but we’ve won back-to-back games and we’ve beaten them once already this season.”

Meanwhile, Oldham’s clash with Rochdale was paused for a similar reason and the 22 players at Boundary Park were also taken off the pitch.

Oldham gave an update just over 10 minutes after the incident by tweeting: “Our best wishes go with the Latics fan concerned.

“A heartfelt thank you to supporters who alerted it quickly to the stewards and medical team in the Main Stand Upper. We will try to provide a further update but he is back responsive and receiving treatment.”

Rochdale added: “Applause ring out around Boundary Park as it appears, thankfully, that the supporter is in a stable condition.”
