Fulham vs Chelsea: Premier League – LIVE!

Scott Parker says his side are full of confidence after their excellent draw at Tottenham in midweek, though he could do with his side finding a winning habit having drawn their last five in the league.

Still, the improvement is marked given how doomed the Cottagers appeared in the opening weeks of the season and another draw would hardly be a bad return against Chelsea here.

Such a result would, however, be a disaster for Frank Lampard, who is under increasing pressure after a run of four defeats in six games in the league, seeing them drop from top spot to ninth.

Fulham predicted XI (3-5-2): Areola; Aina, Andersen, Adarabioyo; Tete, Reid, Reed, Zambo, Robinson; Cavaleiro, Lookman

Chelsea predicted XI (4-3-3): Mendy; James, Zouma, Thiago, Chilwell; Havertz, Jorginho, Mount; Ziyech, Werner, Pulisic

Pressure on Lampard

Timo Werner ended a goal drought which ran back to early November as he scored in last weekend’s rout of Morecambe, but it will take more than brushing aside League One opposition to ease the pressure on Frank Lampard’s shoulders.

Chelsea have won just one of their last six league games, leaving them six points adrift of the Champions League places. So far there has been little suggestion that Lampard’s job is in jeopardy, however quick Roman Abramovich has been to pull the trigger in the past, but anything less than victory could change that.

Predicted: Fulham 1-2 Chelsea

Fulham have grown in strength as the season wears on, with Wednesday’s draw at Spurs a fine example of their new-found belief. Chelsea, meanwhile, have regressed and were swept aside by Manchester City in their last Premier League outing.

Even so, Fulham will gift sides chances – Spurs were guilty of missing a number – and Chelsea have the quality to put them away. They should earn a crucial away win.

Chelsea team news

Fulham team news

Fulham manager Scott Parker will be without club captain Tom Cairney for the visit of Chelsea to Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Cairney has an issue with his knee and could be joined on the sidelines by Aleksandar Mitrovic, who had a slight problem against QPR on Saturday but has since returned to training.

With the recent return of Kenny Tete, Terence Kongolo and Josh Onomah, Parker’s injury list looks shorter than previously, although Mario Lemina is not expected to feature with an unknown problem.
