Gabriel Martinelli has dropped a hint he wants to one day wear Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s iconic number 14 shirt at Arsenal.
The number 14 was famously worn by Thierry Henry at Arsenal, and is one of the most loved by fans of the north London club.
Aubameyang is the current owner of the number 14 shirt, and while Martinelli has no plans to take it off him any time soon, he wants to follow in the footsteps of the forward.
“Of course, Auba is an incredible player. Not just a player, an incredible person,” Martinelli told ESPN Brazil.
“It’s a pleasure to have him in the team. He’s a guy who plays in my position. I can look at him every day and try to learn as much as possible.
“I certainly hope to be playing in the near future.
“And follow in his footsteps, he’s captain of the team, wearing shirt 14, which is a symbol of the club. I hope to have a bright future ahead at Arsenal.”
On his future at Arsenal, he added: “Now, get back to playing more. But surely in the future to win the Champions League, to win the World Cup and the Premier League with Arsenal.
“The World Cup with Brazil. My dream is to play for the Brazilian national team.”
