eta Hedman admitted she “cried like a baby” after qualifying for the World Darts Championship for the first time at the age of 61.
Before taking on Andy Boulton tomorrow night, Hedman said: “My 61st birthday was coming up so I just went [to the qualifier] to get some money. I didn’t have any expectation whatsoever.”
When told she had qualified courtesy of winning 85 legs to Sherrock’s 83, Hedman said: “I cried like a baby.”
Hedman remains the only woman in the draw after Lisa Ashton lost 3-2 to Andy Hunt this week.
“I will enjoy every moment,” Hedman told BBC Sport.
“It’s no pressure. I just take it in my stride. There is no point putting pressure on yourself. I am excited about it.”
