Thierry Henry believes Liverpool midfield trio of Fabinho, Thiago and Jordan Henderson will be a “scary” prospect for opposition sides.

Jurgen Klopp ‘s men have been in impressive form this season, tasting defeat just once this term as they aim to secure a second Premier League title in three campaigns.

The Reds are in the midst of a three-horse race for the league, pitting themselves against both reigning champions Manchester City and Champions League holders Chelsea.

Last season’s attempts to defend their 2019/20 title were scuppered by a defensive injury crisis that saw all three of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez side-lined for a number of months.

Thierry Henry has claimed Liverpool’s first choice central midfield is a “scary” prospect

Something similar could have happened this term with Liverpool’s midfield, come full-time in the 2-2 home draw with Brighton in October Klopp had just three fit central midfielders at his disposal.

Henry alluded to the fact Liverpool have not had the luxury of deploying what many would view as their first-choice midfield trio while on punditry duty for Amazon Prime.

“The scary thing about that Liverpool side is that Fabinho, Thiago and Henderson have played just three times together,” Henry explained ahead of their 4-1 thrashing of Everton.

“If they start to really click and understand each other I don’t know how you’re going to stop them.”

Henderson has long been a favourite among the Anfield faithful, while Fabinho has established himself as one of the best defensive midfielders on the planet since making the switch from Monaco three years ago.

Thiago, meanwhile, endured a difficult debut season at the club, littered with injuries – the most serious of which was sustained against Everton in the same game as Van Dijk’s season-ender.

All three of the aforementioned trio started from the first whistle during Wednesday night’s Merseyside derby away at local rivals Evertonin which the Reds cruised to victory

Those in the middle of the park were not the only ones subject to praise from a player many view as the best in Premier League history, Henry singling out Van Dijk in his pre-match analysis as well.

“This for me is the man. We’ve seen it with Holland. I know we’re talking about Liverpool here but when he is there and when he isn’t there it’s a different ball game,” Henry claimed.

He’s not scared of one-on-one, you can go and he will cover you – Matip on the other side will do the same thing.

“He is immense and what he does he allows you to stay high because he isn’t scared of one-on-one.”
