Hibs show support for Saka ahead of Arsenal friendly after abuse

cottish side Hibernian have showed their support for Arsenal youngster Bukayo Saka by printing the teenager’s name on the back of one of their shirts ahead of Tuesday night’s preseason friendly.

Saka was one of three players to miss a penalty during England’s shootout defeat to Italy in Sunday’s Euro 2020 final at Wembley, along with Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho, and all three have since been targeted by racist abuse on social media.

The Gunners are in action in their first preseason game of a mini tour of Scotland against Hibs and prior to kick-off the club shared an image on social media of the two sides’ shirts hanging alongside one another, the Hibs jersey emblazoned with Saka’s name and shirt number.

Despite the absence of their Euro 2020 players, Arsenal still have numerous first-team stars involved at Easter Road, including captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and several of Saka’s fellow Hale End academy graduates such as Eddie Nketiah, Reiss Nelson and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
