Zaha was forced off with a hamstring injury just before the hour mark during Palace’s 2-1 win at Newcastle and will join James McCarthy, James McArthur, Jeffrey Schlupp and a number of defenders on the club’s injury list.
“We’re having a lot of trouble with those things, we’ve really hit a bad patch,” said Hodgson. “I’m rather hoping it won’t be a serious one because Wilf has tremendous powers of recovery.
“We’ll miss Wilf but there are other forwards who can play, I’m more concerned about central midfield.”
Goalscorer Jairo Riedewald added: “[Zaha] is of course hard to replace. He is such an important player for us. I hope it is not serious. We definitely need Wilf back in the team ASAP.”
Riedewald cancelled out Jonjo Shelvey’s opener before Gary Cahill scored his first goal for the club to steer Palace ahead. Newcastle put the pressure on but were restricted to half chances throughout.
“I thought they [the defenders] were very good in the second half, we dug in really well,” said Hodgson. “We were working so hard to make certain they didn’t create too many clear cut opportunities.
