Horse racing tips: Newsboy’s best bet goes for Chelmsford win

ELZAAM’S DREAM can prove she’s got the staying power for seven furlongs with a victory in the Racing Welfare Handicap (Div II) (5.30) at Chelmsford City today.

Her six previous attempts at the trip have ended in defeat, but that’s no reason to write off Ron Harris’ runner now she returns to the specialist distance.

In September, Kieran O’Neill’s mount was strong at the finish when beating Q Twenty Boy by a head over six furlongs at Wolverhampton.

Below par on rain-softened ground at Nottingham next time, the four-year-old bounced back to form on Tapeta at Dunstall Park at the beginning of the month.

Elzaam’s Dream went under by a neck to De Little Engine, but again came home in the manner of a horse who should have no problem producing her best form now she encounters seven furlongs once more – and a 2lb rise in the handicap looks within range.

Dave Evans’ team continues to perform with distinction, which points to the chance of SCOFFLAW in the chelmsfordcityracecourse.com Handicap (7.30).

There are three meetings over jumps and SOMEKINDOFSTAR, a cosy winner over fences at Market Rasen last time out, gets a confident vote to repeat the trick over timber in the Wigley Group Thank You Key Workers Handicap Hurdle (2.32) at Warwick.
